Saskia Schütt works at adelphi as a Project Manager in the field of local climate action. In her position she supports local efforts at climate change mitigation and develops concepts and strategies for strengthening local climate action and promoting networking among relevant actors.
Saskia has years of experience leading and coordinate climate action projects, bringing together actors in climate action, and in overseeing networks at the local level. In addition to her expertise in environmental management and climate action, she has extensive knowledge of municipal administrative structures. Being a certified ‘change agent for local climate action’ she is experienced in developing climate action measures at municipal level and in guiding public participation processes.
Saskia is currently supporting a selection of German districts (Landkreise) in developing, designing, and realising their role as multipliers and catalysts for local climate action.
Prior to joining adelphi, Saskia worked for several years as the climate action manager in the administration of Stralsund, Germany. In her role there, she built up the administrative department for climate action and was responsible for continuing and advancing the city’s integrated urban climate action concept in collaboration with local political, economic, and civil society actors. Beyond that, she was in charge of preparing grant applications and providing expert support to other administrative units. She advised the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure, and State Development on new funding guidelines. At the SozDia Foundation Berlin, she conceptualised and implemented an energy saving model for nurseries and was also responsible for setting up a new environmental management system.
Saskia completed both her master’s degree in environmental and resource management and her bachelor’s degree in agricultural science and environmental management at Giessen University, Germany. For her master’s thesis she investigated the acceptance of wind energy power stations in various communities in the state of Hessen.
