Jonathan Koenning is an Analyst at adelphi and specialises in international climate policy, in particular energy efficiency and environmental economics as well as carbon markets such as the EU ETS and CBAM. He is primarily involved in international projects covering climate policy, economics and sustainable finance. With his background in international relations and global political economy, he focuses on translating complex climate policy issues into practical strategies that help both countries and local actors to optimise their approach to climate action.
“Future welfare can only be achieved with environmental sustainability. Bridging the gap between politics, economics and climate protection, I am driven by the conviction that sustainability and economic progress must go hand in hand. From European projects to global carbon border adjustment mechanisms - my goal is to transform climate policy objectives into tangible results and to ensure that greenhouse gases are not only captured, but de facto reduced where they actually occur.”
