Transform2Action - Syntrophic investigation of influencing factors on decision-making and implementation processes in the context of the development and implementation of Net-Zero concepts: organizational and management perspective
Text
The implementation of climate protection measures often fails not only due to a lack of market-based incentives or suitable institutional frameworks but also due to internal company barriers. Research findings from various disciplines indicate that companies act as complex social systems, where organizational structures, processes, and incentives (both monetary and non-financial) significantly influence company outcomes. The incentives and structures present within a company crucially affect how successfully a company can manage complex change processes, such as those required for the transformation to climate neutrality.
Against this backdrop, adelphi research and the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) are investigating organizational, behavioral economic, and social psychological barriers, as well as positive influencing factors for the effective implementation of climate protection strategies in companies through the "Transform2Action" project. The project focuses on identifying and analyzing behavioral drivers that influence the implementation of climate protection measures in companies.
Insights from various scientific fields, particularly management and organizational theory, business psychology, and behavioral economics, are integrated and expanded. Through surveys and behavioral experiments, concrete recommendations for action are identified, developed, and evaluated to create scientific knowledge that helps companies achieve their net-zero goals.
The goal of the research project is to generate scientific insights that support companies in the successful implementation of net-zero concepts—i.e., the pursuit of climate-neutral operations—and thus contribute to achieving Germany's climate targets. The research findings will be prepared not only in scientific publications but also in practical formats for companies and other target groups.
