Hydrogen is considered a key technology for the energy transition and the decarbonisation of various sectors. Against this background, European countries as well as South Korea are developing targeted support instruments along with necessary auction designs in order to promote clean hydrogen uptake. The design of such instruments and auctions is crucial to ensure their overall effectiveness, economic efficiency, technological innovation and market integration. Through the collaboration with NIGT, a comprehensive analysis of existing EU's and Korea's approaches was conducted.
This study offers insights into the respective support schemes and identifies potential opportunities for their further development which contribute to their overall effectiveness and efficiency.
