Katrin Schambil

Katrin Schambil is a Manager in the field of Climate Politics. She works on various projects on compensation, climate finance, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Outside her work at adelphi she is contributing to a fair discourse culture and political education in Germany, as a trainer for public speaking and political debate. 

Previously, Katrin worked as Project Assistant for the Secretariat of the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP), where she supported the Technical Dialogue und Knowledge Exchange on Emissions Trading, with a particular focus on Market Stability Mechanisms. She also gained experience in European and international climate policy when she supported the GIZ’s Support Programme for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPA) and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU); here Katrin particularly worked on the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions and ambition raising.

Katrin holds an LLM in Public International Law with distinction from the Universiteit van Amsterdam. During her studies and in her master thesis she particularly analysed the intersections of the climate crisis and international human rights protection. Katrin also studied International Relations at Technische Universität Dresden and the University of Calgary, where she wrote her BA thesis on feminist theories and international security concepts and policies. She is an Alumna of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
