Energy Cooperation with Australia and New Zealand

Close cooperation with partners and in working groups

Together with the project partners – the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (AHKs) in Australia and New Zealand, the Renewables Academy (RENAC) and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) - adelphi supports and advises the BMWK in the implementation and deepening of international energy cooperation with Australia and New Zealand. A joint secretariat in Sydney ensures the activity, accessibility and visibility of the bilateral energy cooperation on site. In addition, the energy cooperation team in Berlin, consisting of experts from adelphi, RENAC and PIK, supports the activities of the project.

An important component of the partnership with Australia are industry-led sub-working groups that advance cooperation on the topics of hydrogen and energy efficiency.

Mutual exchange: dialogues, delegation trips and workshops

adelphi develops and implements numerous dialogue formats with its project partners, including bilateral discussions with federal and state governments and other relevant institutions from the partner countries, for example on the margins of the annual Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue. In addition, adelphi and its project partners organise high-level public events, such as the Australian-German Energy Symposium, workshops and local business advisory councils in the partner countries, as well as expert trips between the partner countries.

For example, in June 2022, a high-level delegation from Australia came to Berlin to exchange ideas on energy efficiency in buildings while in May and June 2022, a German delegation traveled to Australia and participated, among other things, in the Australian Hydrogen Conference and in a pre-event reception hosted by the Energy Partnership.
