The Government of Indonesia has been placing great emphasis on sustainable production and consumption (SCP). In recent years, several measures were implemented to improve the regulatory framework for SCP and to create incentives for businesses and consumers to act more sustainably. However, no monitoring and evaluation system exists for measuring the real impacts of these initiatives.
Therefore, adelphi has conducted a feasibility study on SCP monitoring in Indonesia. The study was prepared on behalf of the GFA Consulting Group and in close cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment. The study identified suitable and measurable SCP indicators and developed recommendations on how to set up an adequate monitoring and evaluation system. The study was based on information gathered throughout three workshops with representatives of Indonesian ministries, and on a review of international best practices on SCP monitoring.
The project was part of the European Commission's SWITCH Programme, a regional environmental programme that seeks to promote SCP in Asia.
