Dr. Beatrice John is a Co-Lead Adaptation in the area of adaptation. She has many years of experience at the interface between politics, administration, civil society, and science on sustainable urban development. A particular focus of her work is municipal climate adaptation and the development of instruments that embed adaptation issues in organisations and processes. In particular, tailor-made solutions are needed for small towns and rural areas, for which she can offer a special view thanks to her own professional experience in municipal practice. In this context, participation and climate communication are important levers, which she includes in analyses and strategies.
“The challenges we are facing as a result of climate change are now unavoidable and are forcing us to think about climate adaptation together with systemic and societal approaches. At adelphi, I can support a wide range of decision-makers and practitioners in finding solutions. In my work, I follow the link between scientific analysis, the appropriate transformation path, and capability building."
