This study offers guidance to companies in the German automotive industry and their stakeholders on significant environmental impacts along the global supply chains for the production of motor vehicles. The study also supports companies in implementing environmental due diligence and management in global supply chains.
The study is based on a modelling of the automotive supply chain related to the environmental topics of greenhouse gases, water, land, resources, air pollutants, water pollutants and waste. The selected vehicle components electric vehicle battery, car body and tyres are examined in depth along their supply chain. The study also shows exemplary correlations between risks for negative impacts on the environment and human rights. Based on the analysis results of the study, starting points and measures for companies are formulated.
