Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions – A Technical Assistance Sourcebook for Practitioners

Continuing climate change is creating an ever-greater need for climate protection activities – both in industrial and developing countries. Major development organisations are increasingly supporting projects and programmes with nationally appropriate mitigation measures. In order to provide teams planning and implementing climate protection projects and programmes with a practical foundation to develop "NAMAs" (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions), adelphi and its partner organisation perspectives have compiled a sourcebook on behalf of GIZ which is geared towards the specifications of Capacity WORKS, a management model for sustainable development. The reference guide for good practice is aimed at project and programme developers working in the area of climate protection at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The handbook addresses political processes and stakeholders which are important to the development of NAMAs as well as technical elements. It also draws attention to financing and implementation of projects.
