Update to the environmental policy guidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB)

The African Development Bank (AfDB) wanted to start a process to revise its environmental regulations. This project offered support to the bank in several ways, including assistance in updating its environmental policy regulations. As part of this, adelphi conducted a gap analysis of the environmental policy to identify the need for updates and to set out recommendations. It also submitted suggestions as to how the update process should be designed in the Institutional Development department, based on the Capacity Works concept.

In a further element of the project, the safeguard regulations were appraised in order to submit recommendations as to necessary prioritisation as regards updating safeguards. Finally, adelphi assisted in drawing up an action plan for updating and implementing the safeguards.
