The SEED Awards for Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Development is an annual international competition, managed for the fourth time in 2009 by adelphi Research. It is designed to support locally-led, innovative, entrepreneurial partnerships in developing countries that have the potential to make tangible improvements in poverty eradication and environmental sustainability.
The SEED Award rewards young and promising initiatives and assists them strengthening and developing the impact of their activities. Therefore, the SEED Awards recognises two levels of winners: 1) Award Winners who are announced every year at the United Nations Commission for Sustainable Development in New York. They are profiled through SEED’s network and receive business and partnership support services to help connect them with potential partners and funders; 2) Gold Award Winners who are selected from the Award Winners, which receive additional business and partnership support services for up to 12 months to help them scale-up.
On behalf of the SEED Secretariat, adelphi gave individual support to applicants and the organisation with the selection process.
