Phase I of the development of a climate protection label for the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation (Stiftung Allianz für Entwicklung und Klima)
Climate protection is in greater demand in society than ever before. Companies and other organizations are publishing climate protection plans and are aiming to achieve climate neutrality by offsetting their greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, accusations of greenwashing are becoming more frequent. The confusion of different statements and targets makes it difficult for private consumers to distinguish between effective climate protection measures and greenwashing. A climate protection label is intended to provide a remedy.
In the project "Phase I of the development of a climate protection label for the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation", adelphi is investigating the usefulness and the place for a climate protection label for supporters of the Alliance. The label is intended to comprehensively assess whether an organization is committed to high-quality climate protection and the promotion of development impacts in the Global South. In doing so, adelphi examines the current landscape for national and international sustainability labels and analyzes the political framework for the design and awarding of sustainability labels. With the help of a stakeholder exchange initiated by adelphi, the interest from the private sector in such a label is anticipated. The results of these analyses and exchanges are evaluated by adelphi in a recommendation for further action to the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation.
