Private companies have a key role in the global fight against poverty and dealing with the implications of climate change. Companies’ effects on employment and income are key in this regard, as are their roles in climate-related technology transfer, innovation and capacity building.
As part of the stakeholder dialogue programme between participants from the economic sector, government and civil society, and on behalf of InWEnt, adelphi helped develop and host a lead-up conference to a dialogue series. This dialogue series entailed international conferences on the topics poverty reduction and climate change from the perspective of private companies. It aimed to identify prerequisites for sustainable and poverty reducing business activities and to ensure their implementation. In December 2010, adelphi contributed to the planning and hosting of the lead-up conference to this series in New Delhi. The conferences took place between June 2011 and autumn 2012.
