Over the last decade, Malaysia has made progress in creating an institutional and regulatory landscape for sustainable development. adelphi now supports Malaysia’s government in strengthening the national framework on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP).
As part of the SWITCH-Asia Programme, adelphi has been advising the Government of Malaysia since 2012, and will now support the set up of a monitoring and evaluation system for SCP policies. Such a system allows governments both to track real progress made towards more sustainable consumption and production patterns and to improve the effectiveness of existing policies. During the course of the project, adelphi will conduct a feasibility study and develop recommendations on how to set up and implement such a system. Key focuses will be put on the composition of an indicator set and on the design of a system for data collection and processing. A number of fruitful interviews with relevant stakeholders have already taken place in Malaysia.
SWITCH-Asia Programme is a regional environmental programme by the European Commission that seeks to promote SCP in Asia.
