Taking ecological and social criteria into account when buying products or services creates demand for sustainable markets and production. The dialogue series “More individual responsibility for sustainable consumption” managed by adelphi, brings all relevant stakeholders together in order to create a common strategy for the promotion of sustainable production and consumption.
In addition to producers, consumers have long since belonged to the sustainability debate. Responsible consumption is a central element in reaching environmental and sustainable goals. All relevant stakeholders – policy makers, businesses and consumers – must thus work together on a focused strategy in order to promote sustainable production and consumption patterns. This strategy can only be successful when market mechanisms are used, and when both supply and demand aspects are taken into account.
adelphi, together with key decision makers, is designing and implementing the dialogue series “More individual responsibility for sustainable consume” on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Environment and the Federal Environment Agency. The goal is to strengthen the overall and individual capacity of action for all involved stakeholders, with the aim to improve conditions conducive to sustainable consumption.
