On behalf of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation adelphi together with project partners will analyse established CSR standards in the tourism sector in order to determine to what extent the standards consider biodiversity issues.
Apart from a few legal provisions regulating the compliance with social and environmental minimum standards, most of the existing instruments and guidelines are non-binding. Therefore CSR processes play an important role in this context.
On behalf of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (Bundesamt fuer Naturschutz) adelphi together with project partners will analyse established CSR standards in order to determine to what extent the standards consider biodiversity issues. The results of the analysis will influence the development of criteria and indicators, which can be used by, for example, standardisation organisations for the further development of standards. In addition, the project partners will create checklists for companies in the tourism industry, which will help these companies to integrate biodiversity aspects into internal CSR processes.
