Companies and organizations can easily improve their energy efficiency, which in turn has positive effects on their energy balance and competitiveness, by implementing energy management systems.
A new guideline, compiled by adelphi on behalf of The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and The Federal Environment Agency (UBA), illustrates how organizations can build up a structured energy management system - regardless of the energy-intensity of their activities, size or branch. The compendium targets not only large organizations, who already have established an energy management system, but also small and medium enterprises (SME) wanting to gain more knowledge about the topic.
The EN 16001 standard of 2009 sets uniform EU-wide criteria for structured energy management systems. By implementing the standard, companies and organizations can improve their energy efficiency and identify energy saving potentials.
