Energy efficiency is a cornerstone of Germany's energy transition ("Energiewende"). lt is also a key element of energy policy in the United States, with some states leading with particularly innovative measures. Both countries have implemented successful policies and are facing similar challenges.
In order to meet these challenges, adelphi organized a three-day bilateral expert meeting in Berlin. The aim was to strengthen the transatlantic cooperation between Germany and the US and to allow for an exchange of expertise and political experiences between leading decision-makers and energy efficiency experts. 30 experts from government institutions, non-profit organizations and industry associations met in Berlin from the 3rd to 5th May and discussed political measures, instruments and challenges to increase energy efficiency. Visits to innovative efficiency projects in Berlin and discussions with various German experts rounded off the event.
