On 8 June, the “Initiative Offene Gesellschaft“ (Open Society Initiative) is hosting its first Economy Forum in Berlin. Come to the Deutsches Theater and join in the discussion on the right economic system for an open society.
"Prosperity for all" is the central promise of the social market economy. Since the mid-1980s, however, income and wealth inequality in Germany have increased. Against this backdrop of growing criticism of our economic and social system, the “Initiative Offene Gesellschaft“ (Open Society Initiative) with the support of the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, is organising an economic forum. On 8 June, participants will add new insights and ideas to the debate on the right economic order for an open society.

The Initiative Offene Gesellschaft was founded by Alexander Carius (Managing Director of the Berlin think-tank adelphi), André Wilkens and Harald Welzer (Director, FuturZwei Foundation Zukunftsfähigkeit). The initiative’s aim is to defend democracy from its enemies and to develop society further. It brings together many forces for democracy, all acting independently, into a civil society movement.
