The Indian government has been increasing their efforts at improving climate mitigation since the beginning of 2015. adelphi has been engaged for many years with the challenge of combining India’s rapid economic growth with sustainable resource management, developing solutions and implemen
With the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) in 2008, India had already developed a comprehensive strategy for dealing with the diverse effects of climate change. Eight sector-specific climate action and climate adaptation programmes were developed in total, which are aimed at encouraging and furthering solar energy and energy efficiency technologies, amongst others, or which provide for adaptation measures in the agricultural and water sectors. The Indian government announced the extension of the national action plan by four more programmes in January 2015. This will result in the future expansion of funding and support mechanisms for wind energy and the stepping up of relevant prevention measures for protecting human health. Furthermore, the Indian government has the goal of accelerating waste-to-energy production and significantly improving resource management and disaster prevention in coastal regions. adelphi has been supporting Indian decision-makers for many years in implementing these strategies. They are diverse in make-up, from policy, economic and finance institutions to small and medium-sized businesses.
Using its extensive systematic and technical expertise, adelphi advises them through various research and consulting projects in the fields of energy efficiency, sustainable water technologies, adaptation to climate change, renewable energies and waste management:
