Against the backdrop of the European climate protection targets for 2050 and the resulting decarbonisation of the economy, this publication examines the further development options of European energy efficiency policies. The sectors of households, transport, and industry are considered, as well as the supportive framework, including cross-sectoral instruments.The proposed policy packages should reflect the diversity of instrument types. In addition to best practice examples, country studies are available for three major EU economies (Germany, France, Italy).  With the inclusion of Poland, a country study for a member state from Central and Eastern Europe is also made available.
