The EU-funded RESIST project focuses on co-developing climate adaptation solutions, innovations and technologies to increase resilience in four frontrunner and eight twinning regions. Analysing the status quo of climate adaptation in the regions, their challenges and needs provides the basis for designing innovative adaptation solutions and enabling successful transfer between regions. Examining the baseline from which the regions are starting and identifying capacity constraints and support possibilities is a core component of the RESIST project.
The deliverable presents the results of this needs assessment for the four frontrunner or “large-scale demonstrator” regions Southwest Finland, Central Denmark, Catalonia and Centro Portugal. Based on a comprehensive literature review, a survey and interviews with the regions, it analyses currently existing climate risk assessments, adaptation policies and measures as well as stakeholder involvement and adaptive capacity. It identifies any gaps, challenges or needs for support in each region.
