A local climate fund is an innovative measure for funding local climate projects that is being introduced in more and more municipalities in Germany. A climate fund can not only mobilise new financial resources and initiate and implement additional climate protection projects. But it also ensures that all actors in a municipality can actively participate in climate protection: from citizens to environmental associations and institutions such as foundations and sports clubs to politics, administration and businesses.
In order to achieve the goals of the climate fund, to initiate and finance additional climate protection projects, but also to achieve momentum for local climate protection, it is necessary to involve a large number of actors. This requires successful communication.
The communication concept serves as a guideline for municipalities that want to establish or further develop a climate fund, so that they can think about all aspects of communication and public relations work for the climate fund in good time and integrate them into the preparation of effective communication. The focus is on the two main objectives of climate fund communication:
Acquire projects that can be financed by the climate fund.
Acquire funds that can be used to finance selected local projects.
The communication concept builds on the basic concept for establishing a local climate fund, which addresses the organisational, financial and structural issues surrounding the establishment of a climate fund.
