How can companies and other organisations make their core business ecologically and socially sustainable? The German EMAS Advisory Board (UGA) and the Sustainability Code Office (DNK) offer an answer to this question with the orientation guide " EMAS und der DNK" (German). The interactive document, which can be downloaded free of charge, has a web-like navigation. Readers learn to what extent current and future reporting obligations affect their company and what added value sustainability management with reporting according to EMAS and the Sustainability Code brings.
The publication contains initial information on the application of EMAS and the DNK, as well as on the combination of both instruments. Those who already use EMAS will learn how the DNK expands environmental management to include social aspects and governance issues in terms of content and strategy. Those who already published a DNK reporting will find information on how EMAS can be used to increase data quality and systematically anchor further improvement processes in the company. Companies and organisations without previous experience also receive an overview and tips for an easy introduction to both instruments. Examples from the companies HiPP, Neumarkter Lammsbräu, Werner & Mertz as well as the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia (LANUV) provide practical insights into the application of EMAS and the DNK.
