Economic and political decision processes rely on the results of economic models. To better mirror today's issues, these models need a stronger incorporation of environmental and welfare indicators. This project first identified indicators and indices suitable for this goal. It then categorised more than 30 models in four classes – equilibrium models, macroeconomic models, system dynamic models, and agent-based models – according to their ability to integrate environmental and welfare indicators. From this analysis, conclusions are drawn about the conditions and opportunities to develop these models toward encompassing environment and welfare aspects.
