Updating the guidelines "Promoting development, protecting the climate"

In 2021, adelphi was tasked by the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation to develop two guidelines on the topic of "Protecting the climate, promoting development". These provide basic knowledge and practical tips on the steps of measuring & calculating, avoiding & reducing, offsetting & promoting development and finally communicating.

However, the market for voluntary offsetting in Germany and internationally has evolved since then. The resolutions to implement Article 6 of the Paris Agreement at the last global climate conferences and new requirements for reporting, accounting and claims for companies at European and German level have created new challenges for the supporters of the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation. There have also been new developments in the foundation's work and communication since then, such as the development of the SDGold seal. 

These external and internal changes can be addressed by updating and expanding the guidelines. adelphi reviews and - where necessary - updates existing content. In addition, new chapters and content are added, for example EU directives that have been issued since then. Finally, the layout and structure will be adapted for an improved overview and tailored to the various target groups of the Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation (companies, public institutions, civil society organisations, private individuals).
