The dialogue series "Towards a Low Carbon Economy: Prospects for a Long-term Dialogue" with selected emerging economy countries – organised by InWEnt and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), entered a new phase. In the first phase, a preparatory workshop and a first dialogue forum had taken place in December 2008 and April 2009 in Berlin, which adelphi helped organise and conceptualise. The regional priorities for a LCE that were discussed in Berlin with representatives from the seven emerging economy countries India, Egypt, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa were substantiated and regionally embedded within this forum.
On the basis of these discussions, regional dialogue forums were carried out during the course of 2009. The Delhi Dialogue Forum on "Sustainable Energies for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)", held from October 19-21, aimed to develop prospects for increased energy efficiency and the productive use of renewable energies in SMEs. The forum was organised by the Indian Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and InWEnt, in cooperation with adelphi.
dditional dialogue forums were organised in Cape Town (on Low Carbon City Concepts) and Manaus (on LCE and forests) at the end of 2009. adelphi also provided assistance in steering and managing the overall process of these dialogue series.
