Our goal is to promote and facilitate transatlantic cooperation on climate and energy policy between Germany, the United States, and Canada. We work to address the political and societal challenges of the vital transition to greenhouse gas neutrality.
Transatlantic cooperation between Germany, the United States, and Canada is an essential element of achieving the Paris Agreement targets by rapidly and durably reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Improving each country’s understanding of the others’ climate-policy positions is at the core of our work.
We are the Transatlantic Climate Bridge (TCB): a consortium of climate and energy think tanks, consultancies, and NGOs working to improve and coordinate climate policymaking between Germany, the United States, and Canada.
Who we are

How do we pursue our goal? We inform and connect climate and energy actors on both sides of the Atlantic. We advise relevant government stakeholders and facilitate existing cooperation initiatives. We also fundamentally look to engage the wider public in transatlantic discussions by seeking dialogue with relevant stakeholders from the private sector to civil society to journalists to indigenous groups and then bridging the gap to the involvement of key governmental players. We believe that bringing the right narratives and people to the table will move the needle towards more efficient and coordinated climate policy.

We also encourage new actors to work on transatlantic climate cooperation. We publish research and analysis on climate policy developments in each country, including on the subnational level, and we serve as a platform for new actors who want to learn more about the field. We facilitate and support third-party events and study tours — offering expert input, content support and speakers, advice on event management, and even funding.

These discussions involve national and sub-national political decisionmakers in order to cover the broad spectrum of TCB target groups.

The roundtables aim to identify best practices in the industrial sector and provide a space for discussion between key companies in individual sectors.
where actors from the US, Germany and Canada exchange ideas on a range of climate policy topics. The podcast hopes to inform opinions on climate- and energy-related issues in the transatlantic relationship, put these issues on the political agenda, and communicate them to the public.
that gather opinions on various topics and involve broader sections of the population in the transatlantic dialogue. These fora will bring to the fore topics of the climate policy agenda that require special attention or that so far have received too little notice, such as climate justice. We take care to involve civil society organizations, especially representatives of disadvantaged groups, that are too often absent from the discussion.
that promote deeper transatlantic learning processes as well as the exchange of information between administrations. Through transatlantic fellowships and study tours, key climate policy issues will be illustrated via practical implementation.
We are the Transatlantic Climate Bridge (TCB): a consortium of climate and energy think tanks, consultancies, and NGOs working to improve and coordinate climate policymaking between Germany, the United States, and Canada. At the head of our consortium is adelphi, a Berlin-based leading independent think tank and public policy consultancy on climate, environment, and development. adelphi and its partners run the TCB on behalf of the German Federal Government.

Bringing transatlantic actors together to share experiences more than not leads to that Aha moment, where they realize either – wow that’s a great idea that we could be doing ourselves, or that what we’re doing is not too different, and there benefits from learning from each other and harmonizing our approaches.

The TCB project is one-of-a-kind because it allows groups who, otherwise would not have had the chance to dialogue, collaborate and learn from one another on climate solutions.
