The Federal Government of Germany had launched an Export Initiative Recycling and Efficiency Technology programme to promote the international know-how and technology transfer in the industry. As part of the initiative, the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) created a platform for technology transfer (waste management).
adelphi was commissioned by the UBA to support the profiling process of the platform according to user needs and existing gaps in the service portfolio on export promotion. A survey among German enterprises in the waste management sector was used to investigate what information and backstopping is most crucial for private sector foreign undertakings and which offers were needed most. The survey was complemented by an analysis of core online information services to give an overview of existing export promotion services in Germany and illustrate the range of approaches and instruments available worldwide. Hence, the platform aimed to create a network between the existing initiatives on export promotion at the federal and state levels in order to network and facilitate cooperation and synergies.
