In the lead up to the Paris Climate Negotiations (COP 21), Expertise France with funds from the Agence Francaise de Developpment has set up an INDC Support facility. Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) are commitments of greenhouse gas mitigation of countries towards the Paris Agreement.
The support facility was designed to provide support to approximately 20 countries, (belonging either to LDCs- Least Developed Countries, or SIDSs - Small Islands Developing States), in preparing their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) for submission to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
adelphi was selected by Expertise France as the lead of consortium to implement part of the framework contract. As one of the assignments adelphi supported the government of Tanzania in the formulation of the INDC or more particularly the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate Change. The Climate Change Management Department was in the lead within the Ministry. adelphi has supported several workshops for local consultations with various stakeholders, provided training for the ministry and other stakeholders and commented on the draft INDC. The INDC of Tanzania was submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat on 30th Setepmber 2015.
