Support for the implementation of the IDFC Climate Facility
Text
The International Development Finance Club (IDFC) is a group of 27 national and regional development banks from all over the world which are committed to financing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. adelphi supports their goals through the IDFC Climate Facility.
Development banks play a crucial role in supporting the transition to low-carbon climate-resilient development pathways. The IDFC member banks are based in various countries, supporting projects focused on sustainable development, resilience to climate change and the fight against poverty. Among the members of the IDFC are, for example, the KfW, the Agence Française de Développement, the Development Bank of Southern Africa or the Development Bank of Latin America.
The IDFC Climate Facility
The IDFC has set up a Climate Facility in order to strengthen capacities and knowledge of IDFC members and leverage resources in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation finance. The Climate Facility is supporting the IDFC members in two ways:
To enhance capacities on climate finance to further integrate climate change into their mandates and portfolios by originating and developing climate mitigation and adaptation projects
To reinforce collaboration and knowledge sharing between members
One focus area is the development of the IDFC Climate toolbox with tools for greenhouse gas accounting, climate risk analysis and climate strategy development for banks.
