Jurisdictions in the Americas are leaders in leveraging carbon pricing as a powerful tool for climate action, showcasing a remarkable diversity of approaches tailored to their unique ecological and economic landscapes.
The Carbon Pricing in the Americas (CPA) platform promotes the adoption and implementation of carbon pricing instruments and carbon markets in the region. Originally launched in 2018 and renewed in 2021 with the Glasgow Declaration, the CPA offers a forum where policymakers in the region can exchange views, best practices, expertise and experiences. It successfully organizes the quarterly all-members and partners calls, technical discussions, in-person annual meetings, and participation in other in-person events.
Staffed by adelphi global, the CPA secretariat generates opportunities for members to build knowledge, exchange information and practices, and network. The Secretariat facilitates technical support to participating Latin American governments in the planning and implementation of their own carbon pricing instruments. The secretariat also promotes the alignment and linkage between the CPIs and carbon markets implemented by the CPA members.
adelphi global gemeinnützige GmbH is responsible for the management of the contract and for the overall steering of the project. Funding for the secretariat is provided by Environment and Climate Change Canada
