As a continuation of the project „Environmental policy and law in the South Caucasus“ and in the frame of the Caucasus Initiative, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) envisaged a systematic advanced training programme from 2008 to 2011, addressing professionals and leading staff of the environmental administration of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. adelphi supported InWEnt in planning the four year programme.
Three workshops with local partners were held to prepare content and scope of the future InWEnt programme on “Regional environmental policy in the South Caucaus” (2008 to 2011). The planning workshops served to identify the leading staff members of the environmental ministries’ training needs as well as the conceptual design of advanced trainings that contributed to the long-term objective of the InWEnt-programme. In doing so, it structurally strengthened the environmental ministries of the three countries and ensured closer relationships with relevant environmental legislations in the EU.
