The Emissions Trading Working Group (AGE) is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) with the participation of private companies, federal states, environmental groups and trade unions. Since December 2000, the Working Group has been providing advice to the German government on questions arising in the application of emission trading as part of the set of measures for climate policy.
Representatives from all parts of society participate in the Working Group. Sub-groups address cross-cutting aspects, such as the linkage to other climate protection instruments, the implementation of the emissions trading system, legal questions and the use of project-based mechanisms (such as Joint Implementation and Clean Development Mechanism) in the context of emissions trading. The Working Group publishes the results of its consultations annually on the website of the Federal Ministry for the Environment (only German).
adelphi has managed the AGE project since 2003, providing staffing, administrative and financial management, consulting and member services. adelphi has been re-commissioned to manage the AGE project for the period 2022-2024.
