The demand for quality advisory services in the field of eco-efficiency is increasing. As a result, cleaner production centres and cleaner technology units in Thailand have made it mandatory to review the "service structure", particularly for the benefit of small and medium sized enterprises’ competitiveness.
Thus, the Federation of Thai Industries proposed to cooperate with the German Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in the frame-work of the Thai-German Programme for Enterprise Competitiveness, which primarily focuses on agro-industries. As part of this programme, the feasibility study represented a survey and analysis of the existing situation and the past developments in Thailand for CP and eco-efficiency, while reflecting on the recent international discussion and the experiences in other countries.
The main objective of the study was to provide guidance for the determination, design and the organisational structure of future eco-efficiency services. The cornerstone of the study was to ensure the "self-sustainability" of such services in the long run by leveraging the recent (and upcoming) policy interventions and other similar developments.
