Climate change is set to severely impact natural resources and socio-economic development in the Nile Basin. In this context, the 3rd Nile Basin Development Forum (NBDF) – held on 26-28 October 2011 in Kigali, Rwanda – was on Climate Change and its Implications for Sustainable Development and Cooperation in the Nile Basin. The forum offered a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences among stakeholders in the Nile Basin, aiming to enhance understanding of the adverse effects of climate change in the basin and to identify potential entry points for regional cooperation, in order to better cope with and adapt to climate change.
The 3rd NBDF focused on adaptation governance and adaptation finance. The forum was organised by the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) and the government of the host country Rwanda. adelphi supported the organisation and preparation of the 3rd NBDF through rich dialogue, experience and conceptual expertise.
