The consequences of climate change are increasingly noticeable and drastic. Preventive measures are necessary to avoid possible negative impacts at an early stage. Therefore the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) together with the European Environment Agency (EEA) assess the security risks of climate change.
adelphi supported this process from the beginning with a scoping study as well as several scenario workshops in eastern Europe, central Asia, the western Balkans and the Caucasus. As a next step, adelphi prepared a report summarising the results of the Copenhagen Roundtable on Climate Change and Security in the Arctic as well as a study based on literature review on the security implications of climate change in the Southern Mediterranean. Finally, adelphi summarised and evaluated the results of the scoping study, the scenario workshops and the additional studies in a final report.
