Climate change mitigation and adaptation will require enormous financial resources in the years to come. Mobilising these resources is complex, as the money is channelled through a large number of international funds and financing mechanisms. To help technical staff and decision-makers in developing countries and emerging economies navigate the complexity and identify ways to enhance their countries' climate finance readiness, adelphi developed the Climate Finance Readiness Training (CliFiT) toolkit.
The CliFiT training toolkit was developed with financial support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under the framework of the CF Ready Programme on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The overall objective of CliFiT is to provide tailor-made support, strengthening the ability of countries to build a coherent national framework for climate finance, directly access international climate finance and spend funds in an effective and transparent manner. In order to achieve this, the CliFiT toolkit comprises several training materials for use in different settings and addressing a variety of training needs. A Trainer Manual offers guidance for trainers on how they can disseminate CliFiT providing comprehensive information on the training topics and didactical hints. Introductory presentations and interactive training exercises allow for the design of dynamic and interactive training seminars.
In the course of developing the CliFiT toolkit adelphi conducted a training seminar for decision makers from the Finance, Planning and Environment Ministries in Uganda. Furthermore, adelphi trained a pool of experts in a Training of Trainers seminar in Berlin to implement the CliFiT training toolkit in countries where climate finance readiness is a relevant issue.
