The aim of the project was to improve energy efficiency in Nepal through capacity building. This was achieved through a training programme in three Nepalese sectors: energy efficiency in the industry, energy efficiency in buildings and energy efficient appliances. Aside from the energy efficiency training programmes and workshops on methodological expertise, InWEnt operated Capacity Building for Energy Efficiency in India, a larger programme that provided training materials, initiated networking dialogues and designed a web-based dialogue platform.
Target groups included specialists and executive staff members from organisations responsible for energy efficiency in Nepal, including the Nepalese Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM), the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) acted as the local political supporting organisation. The entire programme was conducted in close cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in Nepal.
