Monitoring climate benefits and conducting baseline studies in eco-industrial parks allows for climate experts to not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also implement their findings in other sectors. Therefore, the overall objective of this project was to conduct a carbon and energy baseline study and prepare a document on the climate relevant parameters, which includes energy demand and consumption, CO2/CO2eq. emissions, consumption of resources, etc.
The aim was to derive and monitor the climate benefits, including greenhouse gas emissions and potential reductions of four existing industrial parks with approximately 350 companies, mainly in India’s chemical and pharmaceutical sector, two planned parks and up to 40 individual industrial units. The project was financed by the German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) as part of the programme “Planning & Development of Eco Industrial Parks in Andhra Pradesh.”
