Despite climate protection efforts at political and private-sector level, it has now become clear that climate change can no longer be stopped, but merely attenuated. In politics and economics, there is therefore a new focus: alongside reducing CO2 emissions, adapting to the already inevitable effects of climate change is becoming increasingly important. It is becoming apparent that the adaptation of products and corporate processes, the introduction of appropriate regulations and the communication of a comprehensive climate strategy represent valuable potential for companies. The early detection and pro-active tackling of relevant risks will be fundamental to corporate success in a changing climate.
In this context, the 1.5-day corporate coaching course run by the Global Compact Network Germany (DGCN) was intended to illustrate to participants the opportunities and risks of climate effects, particularly with regard to possible adaptation strategies for companies. Risk analysis methods were presented and tested in simulations. Strategic adaptation measures were also devised together with participants and barriers to implementation discussed. The coaching course, which was primarily aimed at representatives of Global Compact companies around the world, was run by adelphi.
