Achievements of Sino-German Financial Cooperation in the Water Sector

During the past decade, China has undertaken major efforts to make the utilisation of its water resources more efficient and sustainable. Chinese-German financial cooperation in the water sector has complemented these efforts with the successful implementation of innovative water treatment and reuse projects.

The Chinese Ministry of Finance and the KfW commissioned adelphi to prepare a bilingual brochure the two countries’ financial cooperation in the water sector, containing an overview of the current situation and setting out future trends and challenges. Seven projects representing distinct regions in China illustrated the achievements brought about by Chinese-German financial cooperation and documented lessons learned from the perspectives of the key stakeholders in the project.
