Energy efficiency and conservation between India, China and Germany must be better understood. Therefore, adelphi supported the German Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) and the KfW Bankengruppe in organising a joint dialogue forum on the subject with over 20 countries from the Asia-Pacific region. The forum took place from 19 September to 2 October 2005, in Berlin. Participants constituted a wide range of representatives from governments, the private sector and entrepreneurs in the field of power and energy supply and demand management, non-governmental organisations, energy auditors, energy service companies and academia.
Experts and decision makers from India and China shared their knowledge, experience and lessons learned in regards to policy formulation as well as technology development and adaptation in the area of energy efficiency and energy savings sector. Another objective of this event was to analyse the positions of China, India and Germany on an issue that is crucial to all of them: finding solutions to decouple economic growth and development from energy dependence.
adelphi developed the event’s content and identified external participants. The results of the symposium were communicated externally, which allowed the participants to liaison and discuss the results with other initiatives.
