The Ministry of Economy of the Netherlands continues its financial support of the SEED Awards for Enterprises in Sustainable Development that will be implemented by adelphi hosting SEED between 2015 and 2016. In the course of an international business plan competition with a focus on Africa, outstanding start-up social and environmental enterprises are being selected and awarded.
The SEED Award winners receive tailored consulting support towards scaling up their business models. Part of this support will comprise the participation in the SEED Symposiums in Nairobi, Kenya, organised and implemented annually by adelphi. The project activities also comprise an assessment of the winners' progress and impact over time to be summarised in a study report. Case studies will be developed on selected past and current SEED Award winners to be published.
SEED is a global partnership for action on sustainable development and the green economy. Founded by UNEP, UNDP and IUCN at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, it works in close partnership with UNEP's Green Economy Initiative. In 2015-16, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of The Netherlands joins the group of sponsors.
