Workshop on climate strategies and measures to reduce emissions

BMU and adelphi are organising a workshop in Warsaw in November to promote emission reduction measures at the local level. The event aims to convince municipalities, cities, regions and businesses in Eastern Europe of the benefits of ambitious climate mitigation measures.
Alongside the technical and legal steps necessary to develop and implement emission reduction strategies, the agenda will focus on issues such as financing measures through public-private partnerships, balancing diverging interests and involving different stakeholder groups. Good practice examples will also demonstrate the economic advantages of emission reduction measures, such as cutting energy costs and creating employment.
Against the backdrop of the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 19), which will take place in Warsaw in November and will be organised by Poland, the event can help highlight the need to take bottom-up, business-oriented approaches when developing national, regional and municipal climate strategies.
