The SEED Africa Symposium is taking place on 10-11 September. Representatives from businesses, policy makers, civil society and support institutions will convene in Nairobi to discuss social and green entrepreneurship. An International Awards Ceremony will also honour the 2014 SEED Award winners.
Africa has some of the fastest-growing economies in the world but many people remain excluded from the benefit of this growth. In this context, the proliferation of social and green enterprises takes on a crucial element in the shift towards sustainable development. adelphi, as host partner of the SEED Initiative, is organising the SEED Africa Symposium - an annual multi-stakeholder forum in Nairobi to share best-practices examples and foster a more enabling environment for sustainable businesses in the region.
The next SEED Africa Symposium is taking place on 10-11 September in Nairobi. It is a unique forum for businesses, policy makers, civil society and support institutions to share their knowledge and experience, explore partnerships, and develop solutions to stimulate the growth of sustainable businesses in Africa.
This year the event focuses on the nexus between small scale social and green entrepreneurs and regular businesses, and how to strengthen collaboration between them, corporates, and policy makers in supportive environments. It will look at barriers faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in scaling-up their business model and building business linkages, and seek to find solutions to stimulate a more enabling environment for social and green entrepreneurship in Africa.
Winners of the 2014 SEED-Awards – innovative start-up enterprises that offer sustainable and scalable solutions to social and environmental challenges – will be celebrated during the Symposium at the International Awards Ceremony.
The SEED Africa Symposium is organised by the SEED Initiative, hosted by adelphi. International partners and local partners including among others Ashoka, the Swedish International Development Agency, SWITCH Med, UN Women are also contributing to this regional forum.
