Climate change is already a major challenge for businesses. Even so climate impact management does not play an important role either in research, or in practice.
Christian Kind and Till Mohns of Adelphi and Dr. Christian Sartorius describe why this is the case and how companies can successfully manage climate risks, in their article "Climate impact management in business – obstacles and success factors". Key aspects of the article, which came out in the 1/2010 issue of the Environmental Business Forum (uwf) journal, are the gaps in the perception of climate change and those existing business routines that delay adaptation measures. Adelphi is currently also working on a decision support system (EUS), an online service that will assist companies in developing appropriate adaptation strategies. The website www.anpassung.net will be available free of charge to anyone that is interested, starting in summer 2010.
