adelphi presented the SEED Initiative as a successful global partnership as part of the Charter for the Future, which has been produced by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and central actors from civil society and the economic, scientific and political sectors.
On September 3rd, the SEED Initiative was presented by Rainer Agster (Director of Private Sector Cooperation, adelphi) as part of the Fifth Forum of the "Zukunftscharta" (Charter for the Future) discussion panel. The SEED Initiative is a global partnership for action on sustainable development and the green economy. The SEED Awards have been organised by adelphi since 2006.
At the "Global Partnerships" forum, the issue of how the state, civil society, and the scientific and economic sectors can play a part in a sustainable development policy in Germany and the world was discussed. The dialogue focussed on the key areas of human dignity, environmental protection, management of people and nature, good governance, peace, new technologies, and synergistic partnerships.
The SEED Initiative has numerous partnerships with international organisations, national public entities and companies, and is therefore often seen as a good example. Until now, the SEED Award for sustainable entrepreneurship has been presented to almost 200 companies that have been successful in carrying out multi-stakeholder partnerships according to social and environmental criteria. SEED Award winners EcoPost from Kenya and Nuru Energy from Uganda were presented as exemplary models at the "Global Partnerships" forum.
adelphi has already supported the two forums on the economic and ecological dimension of sustainability in June and July 2014 by developing a methodology for the working groups and their facilitation.
