Measures for adapting to climate change and its consequences are an increasingly important component of German climate policy. Against this background, a modern information and communication platform will be established to provide targeted information on the topic of adaptation to climate change. On behalf of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), adelphi and the communications agency publicgarden will overhaul the content and design of the website “anpassung.net”. In addition, the organisation of network meetings will also contribute to improving the exchange of experiences among relevant actors.
German climate policy is no longer about climate protection alone. The first effects of climate change are already being felt. Dealing with and adapting to these impacts is an increasingly important task, and one which affects very different actors; adaptation measures can be implemented by individuals, businesses, municipalities, states and countries. Research also plays a role by regularly generating new knowledge and insights. On behalf of the Federal Environment Agency, adelphi seeks to link these actors with each other and in particular to promote contact between research and practice.
In addition to active networking, a central aspect of the project is the relaunch of the website “anpassung.net”, operated by the Competence Centre on Climate Impacts and Adaptation (KomPass). The Adaptation Action Plan (APA), adopted by the German Government in the summer of 2011, sees an important role for the state in the provision of knowledge, information and capacity building. This includes the expansion of “anpassung.net” as a national information, communication and cooperation system. The UBA has thus commissioned adelphi and the communications agency publicgarden with the task of overhauling the content and the design of the platform. Actors in climate adaptation and those who wish to get involved in this area will be given the opportunity to learn about the landscape of climate adaption in Germany, as well as to get to know other actors and projects in the field.
